Job Description
60% - Teaching
Nine credit hours per semester (Fall and Spring) in the Community Health program at the University of Kansas. Anticipated course load is three face-to-face courses in the undergraduate program each semester. The specific courses will be determined based on program need.
20% - Program Director
Candidate will serve as undergraduate program director, contribute to sustaining program standards, and coordinating all aspects of the undergraduate major. The candidate will work with the department chair to develop a strategic vision for the program, coordinate teaching schedules for each semester, and completing yearly formal and informal evaluations of the program.
10% - Service
Candidate will also contribute to the service mission of the HSES Department, School of Education and Human Sciences, and the University of Kansas.
10% - Scholarly Engagement
Active in scholarly engagement activities including but not limited to carrying out course transformation, assessment of learning outcomes, development of pedagogical teaching practices that expand and delivers new methods of teaching to precipitate dynamic learning engagements or other activities to implement innovations in teaching and learning. Scholarly engagement is broadly defined, but typically, not exclusively, includes participation in or presenting professional development and workshops, scholarly presentations at meetings, publications, documenting and disseminating the results of inquiry into improving teaching and learning.

Position Overview
The Department of Health, Sport, and Exercise Sciences at the University of Kansas, School of Education and Human Sciences is seeking a candidate for Assistant Teaching Professor and Undergraduate Program Director in Community Health. The candidate will be responsible for teaching in the undergraduate degree program while also serving as the director of the Community Health undergraduate major. This is an academic year (9-month) appointment, full-time, non-tenure track position starting August 18, 2023. This is a 3-year limited term appointment with an initial end date of May 16, 2026 and is subject to a comprehensive review for future renewal.
At the KU School of Education and Human Sciences, assistant/associate/full teaching professors incorporate teaching excellence through engagement with students and continued scholarly activity to further transform learning outcomes by developing new practices or learning engagements to innovate the areas of teaching and learning.
