About the Opportunity

Responsibilities include the following: review and learn key teaching points within existing instructor guides; be willing to support high-quality teaching and standards through preparation of lectures based on course materials provided; facilitate rich respectful debates and discussions in an in-person or online class; provide timely review and grading of assignments with appropriate coaching and feedback to the students; consistently connect with students and their performance; adhere to Northeastern's policies. A variety of courses focused on bioinformatics include bioinformatics computational methods, bioinformatics programming, genomics, proteomics, and cheminformatics.

Part-Time Lecturers work under the direction of the director with support from a faculty lead and will hold office hours as appropriate.

Qualifications

PhD in Biotechnology or a closely related field and/or a Master's degree plus at least five years of work experience in the topic areas of the course. Significant experience programming in Python and R.

Proven platform skills required, as is an open, supportive personal style willing to receive assistance and coaching when needed from the faculty lead.

Professional experience as a bioinformatician, data scientist, or computational biologist and prior experience in a diverse higher education institution preferred.
