Drexel University's Administrative and Business Services Division seeks a qualified candidate within the Real Estate and Facilities Department to serve as the Mechanical Project Engineer of Planning, Design and Construction. The Mechanical Project Engineer is a Registered Professional Engineer responsible for managing the integration of campus infrastructure with campus construction. Candidates should have experience in the design and specifications for HVAC, plumbing and fire sprinkler systems; experience with laboratory-type systems is preferred. Candidates should also have experience with public speaking, presentations, and writing reports. Knowledge of local building codes, ASHRAE Standards and Guidelines, NEC Requirements, and basic OSHA Safety Standards as related to construction are required. Candidates should be proficient in, but not limited to, AutoCAD, Microsoft Office programs, BlueBeam Revu, and Carrier HAP.
Essential Functions
- Solicit and manage the design and construction services of Architects, Engineers, Contractors and Consultants for construction projects.
- Prepare and manage the project budget financials, schedule, and documentation for capital construction projects and departmental renovations. Project budget financials include reviewing Architects, Engineers and/or Consultant invoices and Contractor payment applications, coordinating Drexel department support costs and other miscellaneous costs and contingencies.
- Administer, review and recommend action on design and construction documents to ensure compliance with local codes and standards and University programs, policies and standards.
- Provide engineering support for capital projects, departmental renovations, and Operations and Maintenance efforts.
- Recommend action on change orders from Architects, Engineers, Contractors and/or Consultants.
- Participate in the resolution of problems arising during construction. Collaborate with University Facilities Management, Environmental Health & Radiation Safety, Public Safety and IT.
- Provide insight and guidance to the Project Team and/or outside Contractors.
- Process and submit applications for PECO Rebate Program as related to Real Estate and Facilities renovation, construction and repairs.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- 5 years or relevant experience
- Registered Professional Engineer
- Typically sitting at a desk/table
- Lifting demands ≤ 25lbs
