Director of Finance and Grants



Job Description

Responsibilities

This position is responsible for grants management, finances, and compliance at CASGSL. As part of CASGSL’s leadership team, the ideal candidate will be a capable leader, able to collaborate in setting the strategic vision for the organization, manage staff, and take a hands-on approach to managing CASGSL’s finances. The ideal candidate will have a background in accounting, business administration, operations, and/or grants management.

Finance and Grants
  • Provide fiscal monitoring of grant and contract funded programs to ensure successful achievement of program goals and objectives and make recommendations for improvements
  • Retrieve, analyze, and report financial information for multiple projects so that project leaders can make programmatic decisions
  • Create and maintain budgets and provide project forecasting
  • Assist with invoice preparation for projects
  • Research new grant-funding opportunities and conduct background research to support the development of new proposals
  • Assist with writing grant proposals and associated budget development
  • Prepare status, demographic, and periodic reports to funders. Make recommendations for improvement/efficiency and resourcing to project leaders
  • Review grant and contract terms and conditions; liaise with relevant units and campus departments to monitor compliance.
  • Respond for funder site visits and audits.
  • Liaise between relevant University departments (Office of Research Administration, Cashier’s office, Dean’s office, Accounting, etc.) and funders to accomplish fiscal management of multiple projects
  • Oversee the implementation of the fiscal components of insurance and Medicaid billing
Staff Management
  • Provide general direction, organization, monitoring, and supervision for Grants and Contracts Coordinator.
  • Assist in the development/revision of agency policies and procedures as necessary and monitor staff compliance
  • Design, implement, and evaluate organizational and staffing plans to effectively accomplish the goals and objectives of the unit in collaboration with leadership and subordinate program/project directors

Salary

Pay commensurate with education and experience.
Anticipated Hiring Range: $70,000 - $75,000 Annually
Grade: GGS-011
University Title: DIRECTOR PROGRAM/PROJECT OPERATIONS

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 5 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters Degree in Business, Accounting, or a related discipline.
  • Firm understanding of grant reporting and compliance guidelines at a local, state, and federal level
  • Budgeting and forecasting experience
  • Grant application and writing experience
  • Experience with PeopleSoft Financials
