Job Summary

On the Operations Software team, you will work with other software engineers, systems engineers, scientists, and mission operations personnel to support satellite interface software throughout mission lifecycles, including instrument development and on-orbit satellite operations.The Operations Software team supports satellite operations by developing and maintaining software used by scientists and mission operations personnel.

LASP is a world-renowned space science research institute at the University of Colorado Boulder. What Your Key Responsibilities Will Be

Primary job duties include developing software for in-house applications used by our flight operations team, including command & control, planning & scheduling, network automation, data processing, and data handling tools. This entails working with network interfaces, automation, databases, scripting, and graphical user interfaces. You will collaborate with other engineers to perform software configuration, testing, debugging, and deployment tasks. Additional tasks may include determining computer user needs, understanding output requirements, preparing operating instructions, analyzing system capabilities to resolve software performance problems, researching programming techniques and methodologies, and overseeing the development activities of a team of software engineers. The Operations Software team follows established software processes and compliance standards to maintain the high reliability of the software systems used in satellite operations.

What We Can Offer

The salary range for this position is $89,621-$127,000. We offer a generous retirement plan that includes 200% matching for the first 5% contributed with immediate vesting. Relocation assistance is available per institute guidelines.

What We Require

• Bachelors or Master’s degree in computer science or related field.
• 5-8 years of work experience in software.
• US Citizen.

What You Will Need

• One or more of the following language proficiencies: Python, C/C++, Java, Bash.
• Motivation to learn new languages and methodologies.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative attitude.
• The ability to multi-task and prioritize in a rapidly changing environment.
• A knack for problem solving.

What We Would Like You To Have

• 2+ years experience in software development.
• One or more of the following language proficiencies: Python, C/C++, Java, Bash.
• Knowledge of relational databases and SQL.
• Familiarity with Command and Control or Planning and Scheduling software.
• Proficiency with Unix/Linux terminal based environments.
• Interest in Aerospace or space science.
