Vice President for Communications and Strategy
The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace is seeking a Vice President for Communications and Strategy - a senior management role at a renowned international affairs institution with operations in Washington, DC and South and East Asia, the Middle East, and Europe.
The VP is based in Washington and oversees a global staff of over two dozen professionals charged with the development and implementation of a communications strategy for the institution that delivers Carnegie ’s global, independent, and strategic perspective and ideas to decisionmakers around the world.
The Communications team has lead responsibility for overseeing and implementing media outreach, editing of short and long-form publications, hosting and promoting events, website management, and other digital communications including social media, podcasts, and video content. The VP is a member of Carnegie’s Executive Management Group, a crucial partner to Carnegie scholars, a regular participant in Board of Trustees meetings, and a key advisor for the President and the rest of the Executive Management Group on vital strategic matters including external relations, internal communications, and analytics.
The right candidate needs to be committed to Carnegie’s mission and its pursuit of nonpartisan, independent, and innovative work on the most consequential issues for international peace and prosperity. That commitment needs to be paired with superb management acumen, deep public policy knowledge, outstanding writing and communication skills, wide networks in media and government, and capacity to operate in diverse policy and media environments.
