This position, reporting to the Manager of Systems Administration, is responsible for the daily operations of all virtualization infrastructure, load balancers, and physical servers including system design, installation, development, integration, testing, documentation, monitoring, and ongoing maintenance of assigned systems within departmental standards. TAMU-CC is looking for a VMware Administrator to join its dynamic team of technical professionals.

Responsibilities:

System Administration
  • Manage the virtualization infrastructure including administration, maintenance, and ongoing support of the environment.
  • Responsible for the administration, maintenance, and ongoing support of the campus load balancers.
  • Function and primary or secondary administrator for the Linux server environment.
  • Reviews internal and external customer system requirements and makes recommendations for server allocations.
  • Assists project managers with developing work plans and time schedules for projects including outlining phases, identifying personnel, and computing equipment requirements.


Support and Problem Resolution

Security and Compliance
  • Manage the virtualization infrastructure including administration, maintenance, and ongoing support of the environment.
  • Responsible for the administration, maintenance, and ongoing support of the campus load balancers.
  • Function and primary or secondary administrator for the Linux server environment.
  • Reviews internal and external customer system requirements and makes recommendations for server allocations.
  • Assists project managers with developing work plans and time schedules for projects including outlining phases, identifying personnel, and computing equipment requirements.


Other
  • May require availability to work some nights, weekends, and holidays.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Three (3) years of experience administering and supporting VMware ESXi, vCenter, Operations Manager, Site Recovery Manager, Distributed Resource Scheduler, and storage protocols supported by VMware, to include three (3) years of experience administering and supporting F5 LTM and GTM, and three (3) years of experience administering and supporting Red Hat Enterprise Linux operating system.
  • Additional experience may be considered as a substitution for the minimum education requirement.
  • Due to federal law on deemed export controls, it is not possible to petition for an H1B work authorization. Applicants must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, and ITAR compliant.


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a major in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Network Administration, Cyber Security, or related field.
  • Project management experience.
  • Higher education experience.
  • Experience administering M365, AZURE. AZURE Active Directory, CAS, Shibboleth, and ADFS.
  • Experience administering, Rubrik, Dell and Cisco servers, Duo Security, NetApp, Enterprise SAN/NAS, MEMCM, and Windows servers.
  • Industry recognized certifications in related technologies.
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Excellent written communication, analytical, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
