Assistant Professor of Physics – Tenure Track 2023

Position Summary: The Department of Physics at Gettysburg College invites applications for a tenure-track position as an Assistant Professor in Physics beginning August 2023. Our preference is for individuals who have engaged in research-supported pedagogy centered around student learning and who foster active learning environments. Responsibilities include teaching courses across the undergraduate physics curriculum (including upper-level research courses), conducting a dynamic experimental research program involving undergraduates, and actively participating in the governance of the department and college. The successful candidate will also have opportunities to teach in the broader college curriculum through interdisciplinary courses and our First-Year Seminar program.

Qualifications: Candidates must have a doctorate in physics (or closely allied field); all sub-fields will be considered. We strongly encourage applications from candidates who are committed to and can speak to mentoring and educating a broad range of students but particularly those who are traditionally underrepresented in physics and astronomy. Preference will be given to those candidates who can establish an on-campus experimental research presence with undergraduates. College-level teaching experience and postdoctoral research experience are preferred.
