Position Summary

The Director of the Couple and Family Therapy Clinic will be one of the core faculty members within the Specialization in Marriage and Family Therapy Program. The director will administer the Couple and Family Therapy Clinic including coordination and scheduling of all graduate students in training activities, facilitation of healthy staff and student relationships, maintaining clinic supplies, revision of administrative forms and manuals, management of clinic fiscal operations, and management of repairs and maintenance of the physical facility, The director will manage the graduate internship program, facilitate marketing and visibility for the clinic in the community, and work collaboratively with the FACS Chair and SMFT program director and HFDS faculty related to clinic issues. Teaching responsibilities include internship and practicum sections during fall, spring, and summer terms.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Clinic Administrative Responsibilities
· Coordinate the Couple and Family Therapy Clinic staff (all SMFT graduate students), and Couple and Family Therapy Clinic graduate assistant.
o Clarify Couple and Family Therapy Clinic Policies and Procedures for staff members and, in conjunction with other SMFT faculty, hold staff members accountable for complying with them.
o Cooperatively, with other SMFT faculty, facilitate healthy staff relationships. Mediate interpersonal difficulties should they arise.
o Maintain supplies necessary for the functioning of The Couple and Family Therapy Clinic.
o Revise Couple and Family Therapy Clinic forms as needed in collaboration with the other SMFT faculty.
o Conduct client audits every semester.

· Oversee fiscal operations of the Couple and Family Therapy Clinic as defined in the Couple and Family Therapy Clinic Policies and Procedures Manual.
o Monitor Family Therapy Clinic income and expenses and maintain a balanced budget. Financial decisions must be cleared with the FACS Chair and paperwork goes through the FACS Office Manager.

· Maintain the Couple and Family Therapy Clinic physical facility.
o Arrange for ordering and supervision of repairs and maintenance as needed, using appropriate University personnel through arrangements made by the FACS Office Manager.
o Order equipment as needed. Equipment lists are submitted to the FACS Chair.

· Locate, develop, and maintain relationships with internship locations suitable for SMFT
students.
o Maintain a record of all contacts with internship sites.
o Conduct annual site visit each fall with all current internship sites.

· Coordinate annual internship luncheon/meeting with internship site supervisors and first year SMFT students.

· Facilitate the visibility of the Couple and Family Therapy Clinic in the community. Develop and maintain relationships with potential referral sources. Maintain a record of all efforts to promote the Couple and Family Therapy Clinic.

· Maintain a database of pertinent information, including client statistics, concerning the operation of the Couple and Family Therapy Clinic.

· Inform SMFT faculty, HDFS coordinator, and FACS School Chair of ongoing developments and/or areas of concern with Couple and Family Therapy Clinic.

· Inform SMFT faculty, HDFS faculty and FACS School Chair regularly [at least yearly] of ongoing developments and/or areas of concern with Couple and Family Therapy Clinic operations. Direct Supervision of practicum students at Clinic NOTE : It is understood that the Couple and Family Therapy Clinic Director will supervise approximately one third of the Marriage and Family Therapy practicum students. They are referred to below as “assigned practicum students.”

· Provide supervision between the hours of 2:00- 8:00 p.m. each week on assigned practicum day(s). Supervise assigned practicum students. This includes live supervision, case consultation, and review of recorded sessions. One hour of group supervision, and at least one hour of individual supervision will be provided each week. Provide other supervision of assigned practicum students as needed.

· Provide written evaluation at the end of each semester for each SMFT practicum student in assigned supervision group. Request written feedback from the students about the supervision process.

Direct supervision of Internship Students

Provide Indirect Supervision of Clinical Work at Off-Campus Internship Sites
NOTE : It is understood that the Couple and Family Therapy Clinic Director will supervise approximately one third of the Marriage and Family Therapy Internship students. These are referred to below as “assigned Internship students.”

· Monitor progress at internship sites of assigned internship students. Maintain ongoing contact with site supervisors.

· Conduct additional site visits for assigned interns as needed.

Teaching Responsibilities ·

Teach two (2) sections of HDFS 633 SMFT Internship in Community Agencies and two sections of HDFS 639 SMFT Practicum in the fall, spring, and summer semesters this may depend on the graduate faculty status. These courses will be negotiated according to school needs, by consent of SMFT faculty and with the approval of the HDFS Coordinator and FACS Chair.

General Expectations
· It is expected that the Couple and Family Therapy Clinic Director will be physically present at the Couple and Family Therapy Clinic a minimum of four (4) days per week, for at least a portion of the day. This is to oversee daily operations. These hours at the Couple and Family Therapy Clinic will be consistent and posted.

· Responsibilities will be performed in consultation and collaboration with the other SMFT faculty members, the HDFS Coordinator, and the FACS School Chair. However, the Couple and Family Therapy Clinic Director bears responsibility for initiating and facilitating tasks outlined in this document.

· The Couple and Family Therapy Clinic Director will submit any proposed substantive changes in Couple and Family Therapy Clinic policies and procedures for approval by the SMFT faculty. · It is assumed that the Family Therapy Clinic Director will work cooperatively with the SMFT / HDFS faculty and the HDFS Coordinator.

· Submit an annual report of job on February 1st to the FACS School Chair to be released to HDFS Area Coordinator and faculty for annual evaluation.

Minimum Required Qualifications

Ph.D. DMFT, or Psy.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy

Five years direct care experience in providing individual, couple, and family therapeutic services

Licensure as Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist ( LMFT )

Two years experience of clinical supervision of marriage and family therapy students or marriage and family therapists with a provisional license

College/University teaching experience
