Student Life is the hub for students at Santa Fe College. Student Life is comprised of Student Activities, Civic Engagement & Service, Student Government, Leadership Programs, International Student Support & Advising, Student Health Care Center, Student Life Business Office, and Student Life Marketing. Services provided include ID card services, student organization support, Recreation Room, computer lab, Student Life Art Gallery, and the Evening Services Office.

 

 

 

The Business Manager will have primary responsibility for the management of the business activities within the scope of Student Life. This position manages the Student Life Activity & Service Fees and Food Pantry department budgets with a combined asset value of $2.2 million dollars and the Transportation Access Fee of over $1 million.

 

 

 

Responsibilities and Duties include:

 

  • Manage 23 departmental Fund 2 budgets (several with multiple accounts, such as the Student Government budget) and 2 Fund 1 budgets
  • Process requests related to purchasing; requisitions, contracts, and invoices; review and approve budget availability on all budget requests, track revenue, billing, processing payments and provide documentation and information on all budget matters
  • Supervise the Business Office Program Assistant, and Part-time Specialist
  • Advise the Student Government Treasurer, Student Government Programs Finance Chair, and Student Government Finance Committee
  • Provide online and in person training and workshops for staff, student leaders, organizations and advisors on budget matters related to college policies on purchasing and travel and to student organizations regarding their Fund 6 budgets (fundraising accounts)
  • Responsible for the oversight of all travel within the funded departments
  • Create, update, and maintain departmental guidelines, manuals, and forms related to the Business Office
  • Respond to and resolve budget matters and maintain relationships with vendor contacts
  • Represent Student Life on varied College committees including A&S Fees Budget and Student Government Finance Committee
  • Meet with key stakeholders to facilitate transactions and address issues and concerns
  • Adhere to all state, college, and department policies and procedures regarding purchasing, travel and payroll. Risk Management is an integral component
  • Assist in budget decisions requiring immediate attention in the director’s absence.
  • Comply with college, state, and federal policies
  • Provide service excellence through courteous, informed, accessible and professional engagement. Perform other duties as assigned

 

 

Reports to: Director, Student Life

 

 

 

Qualifications

 

Required: A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or a relevant field with at least two years of related experience is required. Previous supervisory experience is also required.

 

 

 

Additional Requirements: A criminal background check will be conducted.

 

 

 

Preferred:  A Master’s degree with experience/courses in finance, marketing, management, statistics, and/or computer software is preferred.
