Salary for Announcement

The salary range for this position is $45,300 – $56,650. The salary of the finalist(s) selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training.

The above salary range represents the University’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Position Summary

This position is part of the Curriculum and Systems Team in the Office of the Registrar. Under the supervision and direction of the Associate Registrar of Systems & Curriculum, the Curriculum & Systems Specialist will be the primary representative of the day-to-day operations of curriculum entry. In addition, this position will provide information and support to stakeholders about all facets of course and programmatic entry throughout curriculum cycles; and serve as the primary contact for the course catalog inquiries regarding course curriculum changes for the course catalog. Course catalog involves adding, removing, updating and reviewing academic course information in the student information system and the external academic catalog. This position will create and implement new strategies and processes in collaboration with the Curriculum & Policy Development department.

This is one of two positions collectively responsible for managing and maintaining the Banner Student module and connected systems. This position uses an enhanced and cultivated sense of logic and critical thinking to interpret academic, state, and federal policies, as well as operational business processes and procedures on the functionality of the Banner Student module and connected systems. This position researches, tests, documents the functionality of the systems; and works collaboratively with Academic Affairs, Admissions, Information Technology Services, Financial Aid, Office of the Bursar, Office of Enrollment Management, University Effectiveness, and other constituents.

The Curriculum & Systems Specialist is a temporary, 3-year funded position.

Banner Curriculum Management & Entry (40%)
  • Maintains cross-training and familiarity with best practices related to Banner student curriculum coding, course catalog, etc.
  • Develops and maintains guidelines/training manuals to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Assists and collaborates with faculty and staff in developing the course and program curriculum, program and course reviews, and articulation activities.
  • Provides academic and program course information for the college catalog. Provides ongoing coordination & support throughout the entry of curriculum into the Banner system, for developing new courses and program relevant curriculum.
  • Collaborates with Curriculum & Reporting Specialist and Director of Curriculum to research, scope, innovate, and prioritize large scale curriculum changes within Banner, Degree Works, and other supporting platforms for upcoming curriculum catalog cycles.
  • Provide data, analysis, and research in support of the varied curriculum committees.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with administrative staff, deans, department chairs, and faculty to support curriculum management.
Student Systems (25%)
  • As new releases are implemented, or enhancements are made to Banner Student, Degree Works, and other connected systems; collaborate with team members to test the coding structure by running queries and analyzing report results for all possible outcomes and documenting the testing process.
  • Build, maintain, and run queries to support efficient & accurate curriculum coding and work with ITS to develop Banner jobs utilized to create & update course and student records.
  • Effectively communicate verbally and in writing regularly with internal and external customers, build relationships, manage customer expectations and take responsibility for a high level of service.
  • Use design and documentation techniques to define business problems; use professional experience and analytical techniques to identify feasible courses of action.
  • Design and test practical solutions; document the best course(s) of action for managerial review; and assist in implementing the selected solution.
  • Reviews best practices and operations of Banner peer institutions, collaborating with them to keep current on problems, resolutions and enhancements.
  • Thrive in a fast-paced environment, capacity to prioritize, process, and execute multiple projects at a high-level of accuracy.
Course Scheduling, and Rooming (10%)
  • Serves as a back-up with other team members to maintain and update curriculum coding of courses and students and perform course scheduling and rooming duties and academic rooming processes and procedures.
Degree Works Scribe (15%)
  • Maintains cross-training and familiarity with best practices related to Degree Works Scribe.
  • Serves as a back-up with other team members to conduct scribing of new catalogs, troubleshooting and resolving issues with current degree progress reports.
Training (10%)
  • Develops and maintains guidelines/training manuals to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Provides effective, continuous, and measurable training to faculty, staff, and administrators on the Banner Student module and connected systems to promote accurate understanding, interpretation and analyses of detailed and complex processes and outcomes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited institution.
  • Experience in higher education or related professional environment.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience using a Student Information System ( SIS ), such as Ellucian Banner, Oracle PeopleSoft, or Ellucian Colleague.
  • Experience extracting and analyzing data using reporting tools such as SAP Business Objects Webi, IBM Cognos, and reviewing any analyzing data structures using Oracle SQL, MS Access ODBC, or similar.
  • Full-time progressive experience in a Registrar’s Office, working with operational systems and processes.
  • Experience developing and implementing training and/or workshops for professional staff.
  • Experience developing collaborative relationships on projects with internal and external constituents.
  • Knowledge and experience with any other higher education software such as: Degree Works (Scribe and general functionality), Banner Workflow, Ad Astra, EMS, etc.
Work Hours

Monday-Friday 8-5 p.m. This position is not fully remote, but a hybrid option is available.
