Brief Description of DI:

 

The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI), founded in 2015, is an independent institution of higher education based in Doha, Qatar. The Institute offers internationally accredited postgraduate MA programs of study in two schools: the School of Social Sciences and Humanities and the School of Public Administration and Development Economics. The Institute adopts an interdisciplinary approach, with Arabic Language as its primary language for study and research, and fluency in English a requirement. It has also launched a PhD program in November 2021. DI works to graduate researchers and practitioners who can advance knowledge and better the human condition, while upholding the highest scientific and ethical standards; as well as professionals with leadership skills, integrity and professional competence to satisfy the region’s needs in sustainable development and intellectual, social and professional advancement.

 

 

 

Brief Description of Program:

 

The Psychology Program aims to train and equip clinical psychology students with a range of theoretical, research and practical clinical skills necessary to pursue a professional and/or research career in clinical psychology. A strong emphasis is placed on the acquisition of both research and applied skills relevant to the practice of clinical psychology, based on the scientist-practitioner model. The program also seeks to contribute significantly to Arab scholarly research in the field of clinical psychology, and to prepare graduate students for the unique challenges associated with today's increasingly global, diverse, and changing societies.

 

 

 

Job Description:

 

The Program of Psychology seeks distinguished applications for two PsyD/PhD Clinical Psychology faculty positions (open rank) irrespective of the area of specialization in clinical psychology. The appointment is scheduled for Aug 2023.

 

 

 

Main Responsibilities:

 

The successful applicants should be able to teach in a minimum of three core areas (e.g., clinical neuroscience (biological bases of psychopathology), ethics, psychopathology, clinical assessment, clinical intervention, research methods and statistics), as well as more specialized courses in their area of focus. In addition to research and teaching, the position includes the supervision of students’ practicum and their MA’s theses. Faculty are also expected to serve on committees at the program and institute level, and to contribute to the interdisciplinary scholarly community of the DI.

 

 

 

Qualifications/Requirements:

 

Qualifications and Experience:

 

Applicants must have (1) earned a doctorate (PsyD/PhD) in clinical psychology, (2) significant internship and practice period in the field, (3) the capacity to teach and supervise at the graduate level, and (4) published scholarly work in refereed peer-reviewed journals commensurate with their academic rank. Although not required, preference will be given to those who have a good command of the Arabic language and/or a strong interest in research and practice in the Arab region.
