POSITION Clinical Assistant Professor

POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Department of Curriculum and Instruction at Purdue University seeks a clinical assistant professor of Elementary Education with a specialization in Inquiry-Based Learning. The successful candidate will teach seminar courses as part of the Elementary Education program, collaborate with field-based school partners, mentor junior instructors and graduate students, and teach related graduate and undergraduate courses in Elementary Education, as necessary.

This is an academic year clinical faculty position with reappointments in 3-year contractual terms. Clinical appointments are non-tenure track but with the potential for promotion in rank. The position also includes the possibility of summer employment. Responsibilities include:
• Structuring and coordinating integrative seminars on inquiry-based learning that support various K-2 and 3-5 content methods courses
• Teaching pre-service teachers enrolled in the Elementary Education program
• Maintaining relationships with field-based school partners
• Participating in program administration and recruitment

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Earned doctorate in Elementary Education or a closely related field
• Background or experience in inquiry-based learning, particularly as a means for curriculum integration in the K-2 and 3-5 classrooms
• Strong written and oral communication skills
• Minimum of 3 years classroom teaching experience at the K-5 level
