Description
Responsibilities

Capacity Building
  • Help faculty and staff identify appropriate funding sources for research and projects that support Carroll University's strategic plan.
  • Offer professional development to support grant-making across the institution.
  • Partner with the Business Office to support grant-seekers' ability to develop and administer grant budgets, contracts, and sub-awards.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Foundation and Corporate Relations to strategize plans for program funding that leverage a combination of public and private sources.
  • Develop and maintain a framework for processes, policies, compliance, and tracking, in alignment with federal regulations and agency requirements.


Grant Development
  • Systematically distribute information about coming grant competitions; serve as liaison to interested/potential PIs.
  • Understand the ins and outs of major federal grantors, and be able help potential Principal Investigators understand requirements, funding priorities, etc.
  • Support grant-writing teams and/or Principal Investigators in developing effective timetables for proposal completion, including all stages of drafting, reviewing, polishing, and submitting.
  • Review grant proposals and budgets for viability, alignment with funders' priorities, alignment with CU's strategic plan, and potential collaboration across campus.
  • Collaborate with Institutional Research and the Business Office to streamline processes for grant-seekers to access information needed for grant applications.
  • Serving as liaison for administrative interdepartmental coordination.


Grant Administration
  • Support post-award processes through collaboration with the Business Office and other post-award support staff.
  • Serve as the university's authorized organizational representative (AOR) which includes maintaining and supporting grant-seeking procedures including compliance, securing approvals, and submitting proposals and resource, as needed, to the Carroll University Institutional Review Board (IRB).
  • Supervise the work of the Research Coordinator and internally and externally hired consultants.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Five or more years of experience in proposal development and grants management, with demonstrated success in proposal development resulting in funding.
  • Demonstrated understanding of academic research in the disciplines represented at Carroll University.
  • Preferred experience managing grants in a higher education setting.
  • Experience in managing and developing budgets.


Technology Skills:
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Ability to create & maintain records

Human Relations Skills:
  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally
  • Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, organize work and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, time sensitive environment
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with leadership, management, faculty, and staff through a consultative, collaborative and active-problem solving approach.
  • Ability to maintain high level of confidentiality and judgment with sensitive information
