The Lecturer (Practical Theology) is primarily responsible for teaching and assessment in the discipline of Practical Theology. The successful candidate will be expected to carry out research in their discipline and to be an active and engaged member of our research community. The successful candidate will have an established academic track record in Practical Theology, with demonstrated capability to teach across the general area of mission and ministry. This can include spiritual formation, pastoral theology, homiletics, liturgy and missiology. The Lecturer will lead the discipline of Practical Theology, and oversee the development, review, and provision of courses in our Mission and Ministry stream. This will require the successful candidate to be an experienced practitioner in the field of mission and ministry.

 

The Lecturer (Practical Theology) will be expected to participate actively in the college’s academic and communal life, and to be involved with the community of the Anglican Church Southern Queensland.

 

As a member of the St Francis College Faculty, the Lecturer participates in Faculty meetings and contributes to the work of ensuring the quality delivery of academic subjects and courses. The role of Lecturer requires that the successful candidate possesses strong interpersonal skills and relates well to diverse people. The Lecturer has good organisational skills, is self-motivated, able to attend to detail, and has a commitment to confidentiality, impartiality, and discretion.

 

The Lecturer works in accordance with the values and ethos of the Anglican Church Southern Queensland, and the Anglican Church Southern Queensland Code of Conduct, and supports the operations of the Church through the MEC.

  • A publication representative of your work in the field of Practical Theology (from the last two years). 
  • A minimum of two academic references.

Key Selection Criteria (Required) 

  • Demonstrates skills in academic research and scholarship to a high standard, including recent peer-reviewed publications in the discipline of Practical Theology and research and scholarship in progress. 
  • Demonstrates skills in lecturing and tutoring tertiary students.  
  • Demonstrates understanding of andragogy and curriculum design, or a commitment to develop the same within two years.

Selection Criteria (Highly preferred) This position would preferably also fulfill St Francis College’s need for a Research Co-Ordinator, and as such the following Selection Criteria are strongly preferred   

  • Demonstrates skills in research co-ordination or the requisite skills to co-ordinate research within a tertiary setting.  Including but not limited to:  
  1. Promoting knowledge sharing, networking, and cooperation between researchers.  
  2. Identifying emerging research opportunities, including the procurement of research grants. 
  3. Experience in managing and delivering projects. 
  4. Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams. 
  5. Strong, presentation, verbal, and written communication skills. 
  6. The ability to work with minimal supervision.
