OPEN RANK TENURE-TRACK POSITION IN ANATOMY & PHYSIOLOGY AT RANDOLPH-MACON COLLEGE

Randolph-Macon College invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant/Associate Professor of Anatomy and Physiology to begin Fall 2023.

The Randolph-Macon Biology Department is a growing and research-active community of eleven tenured/tenure-track faculty with approximately 150 student majors and 30 student minors. Chemistry, Nursing, and Behavioral Neuroscience students also take many of the Biology Department’s course offerings. Biology faculty are committed to delivering inquiry-driven science education and conducting research with undergraduate students. Research space, start-up funds, and funds for conference travel are available. The successful candidate will also be eligible to apply for generous internal research grants.

Major/Essential Functions: We seek candidates who will incorporate active learning in their courses, engage undergraduate students in their research program, provide effective mentoring to our students, and serve the department and the college. The primary teaching responsibility is the two-course Human Anatomy and Physiology sequence. Additional courses taught may include our Introductory Biology sequence, upper-level courses in the successful candidate’s area of expertise, and courses that contribute to the general education curriculum.

Minimum Qualifications

• Ph.D. or equivalent in Anatomy, Physiology, or a related field
• Experience teaching at the undergraduate level or in health professions programs
• Research program with connections to Anatomy or Physiology that can include undergraduates as collaborators

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience teaching Human Anatomy and Physiology as an instructor of record at the collegiate level
• Ability to teach Neurobiology and/or Developmental Biology as an instructor of record at the collegiate level
• Demonstrated effectiveness in teaching, including the successful implementation of active-learning strategies to maximize student success
• Experience teaching health profession students
• Postdoctoral research training
• Experience mentoring undergraduates in research collaboration
• A research program focused on a vertebrate system
• Evidence of working effectively with people from diverse backgrounds to achieve shared goals
• Evidence of success using pedagogical methods that enable students across racial, ethnic, and socio-economic groups to reach their maximum potential
