Position Purpose
The Program Coordinator for veterans will assist the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Students for Veterans with planning, implementing, and improving programs, services, and support for undergraduate veteran students. The Program Coordinator will perform a variety of administrative and project management functions. The Program Coordinator will assist the Assistant Dean with student programming and assessment, program reports, college-wide committee work, event planning, and outreach to campus entities, and veterans’ communities. This is a 0.5 FTE position.

Bachelors plus 2-3 years' experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
- Bachelor’s Degree with two years relevant work experience or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience in student advising.
- Experience identifying student needs and determining when referral to other resources is appropriate to support well-being and academic success.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Teams.
- Strong coordination and organizational skills required to prioritize conflicting deadlines.
- Demonstrated human relations and effective communication skills.
- Applicants must demonstrate the potential ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined in the position description.
- Demonstrated ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with a high level of discretion and professionalism.
- Service in the U.S. Armed Forces or a minimum of four years of professional experience in an organization that primarily serves veterans or service members.
- Understanding of and ability to relate to veterans and service members, their needs, and their culture.
- Familiarity with VA, DoD, and other resources available to service members, veterans, and their families.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, analyze and make decisions related to program content.
- Experience addressing needs of students from underrepresented backgrounds and support programs that promote student success.
- Experience with planning and executing complex projects.
- Experience collecting and assessing data and preparing reports.
- Work experience in a college/university environment.

Student Support 50%
- Advises individual undergraduate student veterans in consultation with the Assistant Undergraduate Dean of Students for Veterans.
- Develops and monitors a sense of community for the undergraduate student veteran population.
- Refers students to Assistant Undergraduate Dean of Students for Veterans as needed and appropriate for academic and personal support.
- Oversees the upkeep and sense of belonging in the student veteran lounge.

Description
Student Programming 50%
- Plans, conducts, and evaluates outreach and pre-orientation programming for incoming transfer and first year student veterans.
- Works with student veterans to develop, plan and organize Veterans Day and Memorial Day activities and events.
- Plans and executes end of the year celebrations for the veteran community as a whole and for those graduating/participating in commencement.
- Assists with assessment, program reports, committee work and outreach to campus entities as needed by the Assistant Undergraduate Dean of Students for Veterans.
- Supports veteran student group on campus.
