The College of Engineering and Sciences, Purdue University Northwest (PNW) invites applications for a position in the Department of Computer Science at the rank of associate professor, with an anticipated start date of August 15, 2022.

Computer Science offers a Bachelor of Science and a Master of Science degree. Both degree programs are rapidly growing. Join a high performing team of faculty as we expand our curricular offerings including interdisciplinary offerings and continue our work with local companies.

The position is open to all research areas in Computer Science, with preference given to candidates in the field of Artificial Intelligence, Data Science, Software Engineering, or Computer and Network Security. The successful candidate should possess the following skills and qualifications:

  • An earned doctorate from an accredited institution in Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Academic experience, research qualifications, and background for a tenure-track or tenurable faculty appointment at the associate professor level.
  • At least three years relevant experience as an academic that includes appropriate educational, research, and service contributions.
  • Evidence of integrating research into the student learning experience;
  • Familiarity with program assessment and accreditation;
  • Demonstrated success leading collaborative initiatives on a university campus;
  • Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
  • A solid track record of high-quality scholarly research leading to peer-reviewed publications.
  • Will have the potential to establish an independent externally fundable research program;
  • Demonstrated strength in outstanding teaching contributions;
  • Exhibit evidence of the ability to work in a collaborative environment;
  • Commit to provide suitable service to the department, university, profession, and/or community.

The College of Engineering and Sciences serves over 1,270 undergraduate students and 140 graduate students across a wide range of academic programs. The college includes Departments of Biological Sciences, Chemistry/Physics, Mathematics/Statistics, and the School of Engineering.

PNW’s School of Engineering within CES comprises three departments: Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, and Mechanical and Civil Engineering. Closely affiliated with the School are two distinguished and award-winning research centers, the Center for Innovation through Visualization and Simulation (CIVS) and the Purdue Water Institute (PWI).
