The Department of Biological & Biomedical Sciences at Rowan University is seeking to hire faculty at the tenure-track or tenured Assistant or Associate Professor level to develop and direct a program in brewing/fermentation science. A Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in biological sciences, food science, or related field is required; postdoctoral experience is expected. Preference will be given to candidates with a track record of directing a brewing/fermentation science program.

The successful candidate is expected to develop a brewing/fermentation science program, as well as develop and teach courses in such a program; alternative teaching responsibilities at the undergraduate and graduate levels may be assigned. The successful candidate is expected to develop and maintain a highly visible research program focused on the development of tools and technology, driven by needs of the brewing industry, as well as contribute to service at the departmental, college, and university levels. The candidate will have an opportunity to develop multidisciplinary collaborations with faculty across the university, including the Henry M. Rowan College of Engineering.

The Department of BBS is a new entity, merged from the former Departments of Biological Sciences and Molecular/Cellular Biosciences. We have existing strengths in molecular biology, ecology, organismal biology, and bioinformatics. Our department is home to approximately 1,100 undergraduate students majoring in biological sciences, molecular & cellular biology, bioinformatics, and translational biomedical sciences. The department offers pathways to several combined advanced degrees (B.S./M.S., B.S./M.D., B.S./D.O.). We administer a M.S. degree in bioinformatics and have additional programs (including a Ph.D.) in development.
