The Doha Institute for Graduate Studies (DI), founded in 2015, is an independent institution of higher education based in Doha, Qatar. The Institute offers internationally accredited postgraduate MA programs of study in two schools: the School of Social Sciences and Humanities and the School of Public Administration and Development Economics. The Institute adopts an interdisciplinary approach, with Arabic Language as its primary language for study and research, and fluency in English a requirement. It has also launched a PhD program in November 2021. DI works to graduate researchers and practitioners who can advance knowledge and better the human condition, while upholding the highest scientific and ethical standards; as well as professionals with leadership skills, integrity and professional competence to satisfy the region's needs in sustainable development and intellectual, social and professional advancement.

Brief Description of Programs:

Politics and International Relations:

The Politics and International Relations Program works to prepare a generation of distinguished researchers in Politics and International Relations. It seeks to achieve this through training to the highest international standards, and providing students with the knowledge and skills to become independent researchers capable of original contributions. In this regard, the curriculum incorporates a unique dimension featuring Arab contributions and concerns.

Conflict Management and Humanitarian Action:

This program offers students the opportunity to engage with a wide range of subjects, including conflict management and resolution, conflict transformation, humanitarianism, negotiation, mediation, state-building and reconstruction theories and practices from both regional and international perspectives. The program combines theory and practice in its structure, which includes a field trip, in-class lectures and seminars, and a substantive work placement.

Critical Security Studies:

The program seeks to provide students with the skills, knowledge, and ethical framework to address and analyze regional and international security issues. It delves into the various fields of security studies, such as international security, human security, environmental security, terrorism and its causes, and civil-military relations. The uniqueness of the program stems from several components, including the critical approaches to the existing body of knowledge in Security Studies and Arab knowledge-contribution tailored to local and regional needs.
