The Digital Technology and Culture program at Washington State University invites applications for a permanent, full-time, nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Pullman, WA, with a specialty in Mobile, Immersive, and Interactive Technologies and Design. We are especially interested in candidates using digital technologies, platforms, computational methods, and creative practices that cross disciplines and that explicitly examine issues related to systemic racism and structural inequities in many forms and modalities. The successful applicant will teach undergraduate courses within their area of expertise; aid in the management and development of collaborative practices, spaces, and projects that engage the university and other publics; be an active part of the DTC faculty; engage in creative production and research in their areas of expertise; and support current and emerging research, teaching, and creative activities in their areas of expertise WSU system wide, to external communities, and within the region. It is anticipated that the successful candidate will begin the appointment on August 16, 2023.

This position will join a multi- and interdisciplinary faculty and a growing major. The DTC program values creative, collaborative, and publicly engaged scholarship that places an emphasis on explicitly anti-racist pedagogies, practices, and production in teaching, research, service, and scholarship that work to advance racial justice, reconciliation, and repair.

Qualifications: Candidates should have (i) a research focus in Mobile, Immersive, and Interactive Technologies and Design, broadly conceived; (ii) proven or potential for successful classroom and/or individual instruction, mentorship or internship leadership; (iii) Demonstrated commitment to campus, department, and societal diversity, equity, and inclusion efforts; and (iv) MFA, MDe, MAD, MGraph, or earned Ph.D. in Mobile technologies/platforms, Integrative Technologies, Digital Media, Media Arts, Interactive Media, Immersive technologies, Digital Humanities, or related area by time of appointment.
