The Gender Studies Program at Skidmore College invites applications for a tenure track position at the Assistant Professor rank in an area broadly defined as sexuality studies/LGBTQ studies/ Queer and Trans of Color (QTPOC) studies. We are particularly interested in candidates from under-represented backgrounds who can contribute to our academic community through their teaching, research, and service.

We seek a colleague who can offer introductory, intermediate and advanced-level required courses in Gender Studies and feminist theories and methods, as well as advanced classes in areas of specialization within sexuality studies/LGBTQ studies/ Queer and Trans of Color (QTPOC) studies. The successful candidate will be able to offer classes that cross-list with the College’s Black Studies program. In addition, faculty are expected to contribute to the College’s interdisciplinary first-year seminar program, the college’s general curriculum, and to actively engage in student advising and mentoring. The normal teaching load is 5 courses per year (18 credits).

PhD in Gender, Women’s, or Sexuality studies completed or expected by September 2023. Independent teaching experience also required. The application must include a separate statement explaining how the candidate’s teaching interests and pedagogy engage questions of race and coloniality, and how their courses would foster active learning, critical pedagogy, and social justice. Please provide specific examples. Demonstrated potential for program leadership also welcome.

Pay Range: Commensurate with experience
