Required Qualifications: Applicants must specifically address how they meet these required qualifications to meet the requirements of the position.

  1. Demonstrated ability to work independently;
  2. experience in basic bookkeeping/financial transactions;
  3. excellent interpersonal skills, including effective verbal and written communication and public relations skills;
  4. experience in preparing and proofreading clear, concise, and grammatically correct correspondence and other written matter;
  5. experience developing and maintaining accurate and comprehensive records and files;
  6. experience operating a personal computer in an office environment, including proficiency with MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook);
  7. demonstrated ability to coordinate multiple projects and complete work within established deadlines.


Preferred Qualifications

  1. Minimum of two years of experience in office management;
  2. demonstrated ability to effectively organize and publicize events, including preparation, design, and dissemination of promotional material;
  3. experience in project management in publishing;
  4. experience in web page development, editing, and maintenance;
  5. proficiency in developing and maintaining social media sites, such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram.; Baseline familiarity with and interest in Texas music history.


Job Description

Responsible for administering the daily office operations and event-oriented projects associated with the mission of the Center for Texas Music History. Provide advanced administrative support to the Director and staff. Assist in organizing and publicizing events and work as a liaison with members of the university, music, and business communities.

Job Duties

Interact with public, answer telephone, read email and respond accordingly; compose correspondence; type and proofread memos, reports, press releases, promotional materials, and other publications. Prepare mail-outs; maintain and update mailing lists. Develop and maintain effective records management system; monitor and reconcile budget accounts; process financial transactions, such as P-Card purchases, invoice payments, and reimbursements. Coordinate logistics for events, including mailing invitations, publicizing events, interacting with scholars and artists, processing performance contracts, and making catering and other necessary arrangements. Prioritize and organize work assignments/projects; monitor due dates and meet all deadlines. Assist with web-page development and editing for the Center’s website and social media. Other duties as necessary.

Additional Information to Applicants

Will occasionally be required to work other than normal business hours to assist with special events organized by the Center for Texas Music History.
