Job Description:

The Program Manager of the Office of Multicultural Student Success (OMSS) is responsible for creating an inclusive learning environment that promotes academic success, retention and graduation for multicultural students.

The Program Manager is responsible for the management of the general operations for OMSS including day-to-day operations; diversity training and education; identity based and cultural programming and events; marketing; and assessment. The person holding this position will also represent the Division of Student Affairs and the office through committee work, departmental and divisional tasks, campus and community relations, and assigned projects. This position will require evening and weekend work. Flexibility and direct open communication with all stakeholders is essential.
Manage the day-to-day operations of OMSS, ensuring the mission and vision align with that of the university and division, while contributing to the overall quality of campus life. Including, but not limited to, strategic planning, budget oversight, outreach, and program development.
Develop, establish, disseminate, and interpret University and office policies and procedures as they pertain to all students and student organizations.

Provide strategic leadership for the expansion and development of new student programming and services.
Develop, manage and create training/educational programs designed to address various diversity, inclusion and equity topics.
Compiles reports and relevant student data to share with key stakeholders.

Develop relationships with key stakeholders, both internal and external. Represent OMSS on various committees, taskforces and divisional initiatives, as well as assist the Director in other duties and projects as assigned.

Collaborate with Success Coaches, Academic Advisors, and Office of Student Involvement and Leadership and Office of Diversity and Inclusion staff, and others for programming and outreach initiatives.

Promote visibility of OMSS through website, social media, mailings and other outreach methods. Work with Marketing and Communications department to expand promotion of OMSS programs, services and initiatives.

Perform administrative duties and procedures as related to department operations, contracts and assessment efforts as well as assist in other duties and projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

Education/experience/licensing:
• Master’s Degree from an accredited four (4) year college or university, major in Higher Education, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
• Minimum of two years professional experience in higher education setting or working in a related field.
• Experience in creating educational programs that promote student learning about identity and difference within the context of a multicultural society. Experience working with multicultural and LGBTQA+ student populations preferred.
• Experience in advising multicultural student organizations is preferred.
• Proven ability to effectively work with multiple constituencies, including campus administrators, faculty, staff, students, and community members.
• Proficiency with office technology.

Communication and other skills:
• Strong listening and organizational skills. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Comfortable public speaking in large and small groups.
• Proven organizational skill required especially in program and project management.
• Demonstrated problem-solving, conflict resolution, team management, and leadership skills.
• Ability to effectively communicate utilizing social media and other electronic communication systems.
