Purpose of Position
Northern Kentucky University Salmon P. Chase College of Law welcomes applications for appointment to the position of Associate Dean and Director of the Law Library beginning in July 2023. The Director reports to the Dean and leads the library of the law school. Primary Responsibilities
The Director’s principal responsibilities are managing the law library and providing information resources in appropriate formats to faculty, students, and members of the community. The Director is responsible for overseeing all aspects of library operation and administration, including strategic planning; budgeting; hiring, training, and supervising library staff, including professional librarians and support staff; collection maintenance and development; space planning; and developing and implementing technology to support library services.

Additionally, the Director actively participates in the intellectual life of the law school, engaging in scholarly and professional development activities as well as supervising and teaching in the research instruction component of the first-year writing program and upper-division research courses as needed, assisting in the law school assessment processes and programming, supporting the research efforts of the law school, and performing other duties as assigned.

The Director is responsible for ensuring that the library meets the accreditation standards of the American Bar Association as they relate to law libraries and the membership requirements of the Association of American Law Schools. The Director is encouraged to participate in the American Association of Law Libraries and other law library and professional organizations. The Director also works collaboratively with the NKU Steely Library and the Dean of the Steely Library. Qualifications
This is a 12-month, full-time, tenure-track, or tenured faculty position.

The Associate Dean and Director of the Law Library fully participates in the faculty governance of the law school.

Applicants for this position must possess a JD degree from an ABA -accredited law school and an MLS or equivalent degree from an ALA -accredited library school.

Ideally, applicants should have at least 3 or more years of experience at a law school or university library; a commitment to the teaching of research; excellent academic and professional credentials; and experience leading others.
