Job Description:

UF Information Technology (UFIT) is currently seeking a(n) intermediate level System Administrator to join Infrastructure and Communications, a unit within UFIT.

Employment with UFIT provides an excellent opportunity to work with other employees dedicated and focused on understanding and interpreting the technological needs of the University of Florida’s innovative and inspirational community.

Infrastructure and Communications Technology (ICT) provides shared IT Infrastructure to meet the needs of the University of Florida. It aims to consolidate and standardize IT Infrastructure. It replaces, retires, and keeps the campus IT infrastructure and communication services current to optimize and maximize all IT provided services
Some key responsibilities and characteristics of this position are:
  • System administration - Linux/Windows
  • Infrastructure Deployments/Configuration
  • Develop and maintain monitoring systems and services

Benefits

Full-time TEAMS employees will accrue vacation leave at a rate of 6.769 hours biweekly/22 days annually and sick leave at a rate of 4 hours biweekly/13 days annually. In addition, employees are eligible for ten paid holidays each year.

Vacation accruing TEAMS employees are eligible for four personal leave days/32 hours per year, assuming full-time status, and are intended to give the flexibility to enable units to close from December 26 to 31 when possible, determined on a unit-by-unit basis.

Expected Salary:

$75,000 - $85,000: commensurate based on education and experience.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience; or a high school diploma or equivalent and six years of experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will possess the following education, experience, and skills:
  • Advanced knowledge of RedHat and/or Windows OS
  • Advanced knowledge of n-tier applications (browser, web, app, database)
  • Advanced knowledge of DNS configuration and operations
Basic understanding of network management/orchestration methods/tools, including, but not limited to:
  • Simple Network Management Protocol (SNMP)
  • Extensible Markup Language (XML)
  • Application programming interface (API)
Ability to create complex programs in one or more of these programming languages:
  • C/++
  • Perl
  • Python
Automation with scripting and automation tools including:
  • PowerShell
  • Gi
  • Terraform
  • Chef
Database design
