Position Summary:

Department of Psychology and Counseling—Clinical Mental Health Counseling Tenure-Track Position: Assistant Professor, Counselor Education, Jonesboro, Arkansas. This is a 9-month, full-time, tenure track position with opportunity for additional summer contract. The position begins August of 2023.

Duties & Responsibilities:

The successful candidate will have a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching; significant experience teaching graduate courses; training and experience conducting clinical supervision; have a clear research agenda and potential for publication in key professional journals in the field. This individual will also be required to teach undergraduate courses within the undergraduate Certificate in the Helping Professions. The successful candidate will demonstrate strong cultural competence, verbal communication and interpersonal skills necessary for effective collaboration with a diverse community of students, faculty, staff, and external constituents




CMCH Program Description:


The Ed.S in Clinical Mental Health Counseling is a 60 credit hour full time/part time program of study and is CACREP accredited. Graduates typically are employed in community mental health centers or other social service agencies. Students complete practicum and internships in settings related to their career goals. Coursework prepares students for state licensure as a Licensed Associate Counselor in Arkansas and certification as a National Certified Counselor. Program requirements include successful completion of a Comprehensive Exam (Counselor Preparation Comprehensive Examination and an essay response to a case study scenario). Students also have the option to complete a thesis if desired. Our program also houses two graduate certificate programs in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Play Therapy for students who are currently enrolled or who already possess a masters degree or higher in counseling or a related mental health field




Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing

General Days/Hours:

Monday - Friday
8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Additional hours as requested and/or needed
Regular and reliable attendance

Preferred Qualifications:
• Evidence of program development and coordination experience
• Evidence of leadership roles in regional, national and/or international professional associations
• Experience and/or training in couple and family counseling and/or play therapy
• Experience recruiting diverse student applicants


Minimum Qualifications:

• A doctorate (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) in Counselor Education with an emphasis in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from a CACREP accredited program (ABDs will be considered with completion within one year of start date)
• Evidence of teaching in undergraduate and graduate courses
• Evidence of an established research agenda
• Participation in regional, national, and/or international professional associations
• Evidence of professional counseling experience
• Eligible for Licensure in the State of Arkansas or NCC eligible
