Schedule: In-Person: Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm. Evening and Weekends as needed.

Job Description:

POSITION SUMMARY
Under the direction of the Assistant Director, Cashiers and Student Accounting, the Accountant performs a variety of professional level accounting duties according to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and Federal and State regulations. Assists with the operations of the Cashiers and Student accounting department, as needed. This role will encompass the ability to troubleshoot and resolves discrepancies or inaccuracies.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE JOB

Disbursement of Student Financial Data Collections and Student Support

Knowledgeable in financial compliance with federal and state regulations and internal guidelines related to accounts receivables and collections, the disbursement, reporting, and reconciliation of funds used to help pay student tuition and related costs at the College. Assists in the drawdown of federal financial aid funds and reporting of enrollment to initiate the process to receive funds for tuition payments with other departments and colleagues on Campus and externally as needed.

Supports the processes of refunds to students by check and ACH in accordance with established policies and procedures. Assists with receivables collections and works with Financial Aid and Enrollment Services Operations team to establish financial aid and reporting schedule. Critical support for other departments during normal business hours and in person when needed. Assists students in-person, over the phone using Call Center, Chat, and by email during regular business hours.

General Accounting
Summarizes and reports accounting information as needed. May assist in providing information for the annual external audit. Documents business transactions to the general ledger and student accounts. Analyzes, investigates, and corrects accounting entries as needed. Assists in testing system processes. Keeps accurate records. Completes and maintains required documentation.

OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Attends all required department meetings and training. Manages multiple assignments of varying complexity while meeting federal, state, and internal regulations and procedures.

Assists with customer service in the department as needed. Demonstrates the ability to adapt to changing needs of the College and business partners. Hours may include working outside of a normal workweek schedule to support workload. Works overtime as needed to meet business demands.

Standard organizational skills, generally accepted accounting principles, financial aid regulations, computer software programs and enterprise applications, including cloud applications such as Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook), and accounting programs and software.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
An Associate degree in Accounting and one (1) year of related experience.

State Motor Vehicle Operator's License or demonstrable ability to gain access to work site(s).
