The Art Director leads the creative development of marketing campaigns, publications, and other design materials. The Art Director serves as the primary project manager for the production and distribution of materials. Working independently and collaboratively, the Art Director is responsible for establishing, executing, and monitoring a comprehensive visual identity program that supports the office's strategies for advancing the college's brand, driving enrollment, and building fundraising. This position is responsible for ensuring an efficient workflow and high-quality, timely deliverables, such as college publications, advertising, and promotional materials. The Art Director applies a strong understanding of the college brand, mission, vision, and values to the management of customer and vendor relationships. The art director is accountable for ensuring that the design of all materials for the college meet the highest brand standards of creativity, accuracy, consistency, and appearance.

  • Bachelor's degree in graphic design, creative services, marketing or related field.
  • Three years of experience working as a creative art director and/or leading creative services teams. One year of supervisory experience required
  • In-depth knowledge of graphic design theories and techniques, publishing and print production, and creative services methods
  • Current work experience and professional portfolio as a graphic designer
  • Experience directing work of designers, photographers, and outside vendors in a high-volume environment, which includes managing production, budgets, and timelines
  • Proficient in the Adobe Creative Cloud, including InDesign and Photoshop
  • Experienced in Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Exceptional skills with editorial and graphic standards, including proofreading
  • Strong project management and organizational skills, including working professional knowledge of online project management tools.
  • Experience with budget management, and skilled at working with invoices, project calendars, and vendors.
  • Advanced creative problem-solving, decision making, conceptual and typography skills
  • Advanced knowledge of the level and type of creative resources that are needed (from concepting to execution) across multiple types of creative deliverables
  • In-depth knowledge of marketing concepts and experience with marketing campaign development
OTHER REQUIREMENTS
  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively and creatively, both verbally and in writing, with clients and stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Regular attendance is a requirement of this job.
  • Performs all duties while considering the impact of any actions on the college's sustainability initiatives in the areas of environmental stewardship, social responsibility, and economic prosperity.
