Overview

Princeton University Facilities Information Technology (FIT) Department is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Senior Technical Delivery Analyst for Life Safety & Security Systems. This role will partner with internal Facilities Information Technology team members and personnel to deliver technical solutions that are in alignment with IT and business strategies. This role is responsible for providing the IT support for video surveillance, access control and other life safety and security applications. This includes the day-to-day support plus the identification and implementation of system improvements and enhancements.

This role is part of Facilities Information Technology (FIT), which is a unit of Facilities Finance and Administrative Services (FFAS) and provides services to Princeton’s 800+ person Facilities organization. This position requires a high level of responsibility and excellent interpersonal communication skills, working collaboratively with internal Facilities partners and key university departments to protect University assets, faculty, staff, students and visitors.



Responsibilities

A self-starter who works independently and as part of a team to provide IT support for technical systems. This includes providing day to day system support to ensure secure, stable applications and technical environments, technical issue resolution and the implementation of new solutions. This position requires providing 24/7 technical support to ensure maximum uptime, while ensuring systems are in compliance with University standards and industry best practices.

    Implement and maintain technical solutions that improve the university's ability to continually deliver high quality applications and services to campus partners. Manage 3rd party vendor provided applications (including middleware, SSL certificates, server access, database integrations and storage allocation), ensuring maximum system uptime. Provide server-level administration for applications in production and test environments, including setup and review of performance monitoring and alerts, firewall rules, system configurations and access. Monitor application platform for abnormalities; verify the integrity and availability of all servers, systems, network, and key processes. Review system and application logs to identify potential problems; troubleshoot and resolve technical application issues. Request and review vulnerability scans, firewall rules, and system access to ensure compliance with university standards. Remediate critical and severe OS, middleware, application, and firmware vulnerabilities identified. Test monthly operating system (OS) and SQL patching, in coordination with IT partners. Lead execution of application patches, services packs, security, and firmware updates for endpoint devices. Design, develop and test system architecture including virtual servers, database, centralized storage, and integrations for new and existing 3rd party applications. Schedule, plan, and lead technical upgrades, new deployments, and enhancements for applications. Deliver projects using project management best practices and methodologies from requirements gathering thru design, testing and deployment of technical solutions. Provide technical direction and management to third-party integrators, vendors, and consultants. Work closely with the Office of Information Technology to leverage shared services including campus wide infrastructure, network, access, and information security. Collaborate with business owners and end users to understand their ongoing needs and translate them into reliable and efficient technical specifications and solutions. Provide solutions for technical challenges, using modern tools and methods that will improve and enhance applications. Create and deliver technical documentation and workflows. Document processes, procedures and systems. Write unit and functional tests for applications Maintain an in-depth knowledge of existing and emerging technologies. Evaluate emerging technologies and provide solutions to implement with a focus on ease of use, cost effectiveness and efficiency. Provide input on policies and standards related to the use of computing resources, overall strategy, design, implementation, and operational aspects of multiple security systems, operating environments, and related software. Respond to after-hours emergencies and incidents as needed.


Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:

    5+ years related work experience with 3+ years leading technical oversight of 3rd party applications including server administration of OS, middleware, firewall rules and network connectivity. Demonstrated experience providing technical governance of 3rd party applications including break/fix, vulnerability remediation, monitoring and performance, stability, and routine Experience with server operating systems, Windows (R2016 and up), or Linux (OpenSUSE and Red Hat) and databases (SQL Server 2016 and up and Oracle 19c). Basic proficiency with programming languages SQL and PowerShell used to develop automation scripts and routine tasks. Hands on experience in troubleshooting and remediation of break/fix and security or other vulnerabilities identified through system monitoring and alerts. Experience managing application integrations using tools such as ODBC, SDK and APIs. Familiarity with 3rd party email and file transfer tools such as SFTP and SMTP. Previous experience working on and leading full lifecycle application implementations and upgrade projects using project management methodologies such as Agile and SDLC. Includes direct experience conducting business requirement gathering and design while collaborating with technical and non-technical Strong critical thinking skills with high attention to detail, quality and accuracy of work. Ability to work and communicate effectively with key stakeholders and external Ability to adapt to new programming techniques, languages, and tools.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working with campus access control systems (CCure 9000, Salto) or other electronic locking and key management systems.
  • Experience in working with real-time video surveillance systems (Acuity-VCT, Verint) and
  • Experience working with life safety systems including fire alarm monitoring and emergency broadcast systems (TrueSite Workstation). Experience working with IT service management support platforms, such as ServiceNow, JIRA and Zendesk is a Experience working in a university setting is a plus
Education:
  • Bachelor’s in computer science, Information Technology, other related field, or equivalent work experience.
