Job Details
Position
John Brown University seeks a full-time Chief Nursing Administrator to lead the institution’s largest undergraduate program. The Chief Nurse Administrator serves as the Chair of the department with administrative duties primarily, but also some instructional responsibilities. The position will begin as early as January 2023 but no later than August 2023, depending on candidate availability. This position reports to the Dean of the College of STEM and Health Professions. Responsibilities include providing guidance for the faculty and staff of the department, managing course loads, faculty duties and course assessment, overseeing the departmental budget, maintaining records required by the Arkansas State Board of Nursing (ASBN) and the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) and communicating with the dean and university administration about the JBU nursing program. Additional responsibilities include but are not limited to advising current students, and participating in the recruitment of new students, attendance and participation at public events, as appropriate, and service on university committees.
Program
The JBU Nursing Department is a young, CCNE-accredited program housed in a 5-year-old facility designed specifically for nursing education that includes modern classrooms, a high-fidelity simulation lab, other appropriate technology and faculty offices. Our BSN is a relationally-focused program that implements a Concepts Based curriculum. The Nursing program is currently the largest major at John Brown University and is home to many first-generation and minority students.
Required Qualifications
- Registered nurse (RN) with a graduate degree in nursing
- A minimum of 3 years nursing practice experience
- Hold (or be eligible for) an unencumbered license in the state of Arkansas
- A commitment to working with first-generation students and a diverse population of students
- Must be a committed follower of Jesus Christ
Preferred Qualifications
- A terminal degree in nursing
- Academic experience in nursing
- Membership and active participation in professional nursing organizations
- Demonstrated evidence of scholarly potential
- Demonstrated experience with first-generation and diverse populations
