Job Description
Montgomery College, Germantown Campus, is seeking a Engineering and Physics faculty member to fill a position starting January 2023. The College is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated teacher who possesses a high degree of professionalism, a strong commitment to students, and the ability to motivate and educate in an engaging manner. This position is part of a collective bargaining unit.
Montgomery College is a public, fully accredited, open admission institution. The College is dedicated to student success and is widely recognized for the quality and scope of its academic programs. Montgomery College has the largest Engineering transfer program in the nation with about 1000 students in nine Engineering transfer program tracks.
The successful candidate will be committed to teaching in a multi-cultural student-focused two-year institution consisting of students with diverse learning abilities. Important qualities expected in the candidate include strong verbal and written communication skills, experience working with students of different backgrounds, and a commitment to the community college mission.
Teaching assignments may include various delivery modes, such as face-to-face, on-line, hybrid and/or blended formats during days, evenings and weekends. Montgomery College has three campuses and instructs courses at area high schools. Faculty may be assigned to any of these campuses and/or teaching online.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- The faculty member will be responsible for teaching introduction to engineering design using Creo, introductory numerical analysis using MATLAB, Intro to BME, Statics, Dynamics, Mechanics of materials, Thermodynamics and calculus-based physics.
- The faculty member will coordinate the engineering discipline at the campus under the leadership of the Department Chair and will work collaboratively with the engineering faculty collegewide
- Candidates must be willing to occasionally participate in club sponsorships and/or field trips and student competition
- A teaching schedule may include day or evening classes.
- Candidates must be willing to participate in mentoring, advising, articulation,
- Faculty members are expected to develop and evaluate instructional materials, serve on departmental, campus and college committees, participate in grant activities, and maintain an active personal program of professional development.
- A Master’s Degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Teaching experience in either Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering.
- Demonstrable skill in engineering software and programming (MATLAB, Solid Modeling programs such as Creo and Solid work, MS office suit)
- Demonstrable skills appropriate to teach online, DL and Hybrid classes
- Evidence of currency in the discipline.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- A statement of teaching philosophy is required and must be attached to the online application.
- A Master’s Degree or higher in Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering
- At least one-year of full-time college-level teaching experience in either Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering.
- Successful record of creating DL classes
- Research experience in engineering education.
- Experience with grant proposal writing
- The successful candidate will have a strong interest in advising and mentoring engineering students, and also be an effective student advocate, particularly for students who are transferring to 4-year institutions to complete their engineering degrees.
