Department Summary

The Prevention Science Institute (PSI) at the University of Oregon (UO) is a multidisciplinary research institute focused on improving the lives of children, families, and adults through science, outreach, and program delivery. The PSI includes faculty from across the UO who work together to understand prevention and health promotion through translational science and applied intervention research. We conduct research from multiple perspectives, including translational research that focuses on interactions between the brain, social context, and behavior; developing, testing, and delivering effective intervention programs; and efficacious ways to disseminate programs into community, agency, and school settings.
Position Summary

The Rapid Acceleration of Diagnostics (RADx-UP) grant serves to scale-up SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) testing to Latinx communities throughout the state. We will collaborate with counties across the state of Oregon to implement testing sites and work with community organizations to create and implement community navigator interventions (Promotores). This project has the potential to enhance COVID-19 testing access and reach for a significantly underserved population that is vulnerable to SARS-CoV-2transmission and who is at increased risk for severe COVID-19 symptoms. The RADx-UP Promotores Coordinator provides leadership and support to the team of promotores. This individual will oversee intervention delivery and data collection activities throughout Latinx communities in Oregon under external federal funding guidelines.

This position will be responsible for coordination with various county public health departments, community based organizations, and requires compliance with human subject IRB process. The Promotores Coordinator oversees and supports the daily activities of the team of promotores. The Promotores Coordinator is also responsible for arranging for and documenting the hiring and training of new members of the team of promotores. The Promotores Coordinator supervises the overall processes involved with tracking and completion of promotores activity reports, ensures quality standards for data collection and reporting are met, coordinates research activities that interface with promotores activities, and actively troubleshoots any issues that arise with the promotores intervention delivery.

This position requires travel to multiple community COVID-19 testing locations within a region and across Oregon, requires access to reliable and confidential transportation. The incumbent will work under the mentorship and guidance of the various levels of the RADX-Up Community Engagement Team to identify and implement strategic solutions for the promotores intervention delivery. This position must have high-functioning organizational skills, attention to detail, adherence to confidentiality, and discretion. This position is responsible for assisting the RADx Community Engagement Team with assessments of emerging operational problems or concerns and works closely with all levels of administration and staff to resolve issues.

The position will last 6 months (March 1 - August 31, 2022), with a possibility of extending work if COVID-19 testing is still needed and funding is secured. This position requires flexibility in regard to a work schedule including early mornings, during the day, evenings, or weekends. This position requires the ability to travel between testing sites that are not easily accessible via public transportation.
Minimum Requirements

• Fluent bilingual Spanish-English speaker.
  
• Bachelor's degree with coursework appropriate to the position. In certain circumstances, experience may be substituted for a degree.
  
• Two years of public health field experience or equivalent combination of training and experience appropriate to the position.
  
• One year of supervisory and leadership experience.
  
• Three years of experience working in a team environment, requiring participatory decision-making, and cooperative interactions among employees.

  Preferred Qualifications
  
  
• Experience facilitating outreach activities or research activities with participants and/or experience conducting standardized interviews.
  
• Experience recruiting for and/or collecting biospecimen samples.
  
• Experience working in higher education research or outreach
