Position Overview
The Department of Communication and Media in the School of Liberal Arts invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position starting in Academic Year 2023-24. The successful candidate will have a specialization in Organizational Communication with an emphasis in Environmental Communication, with a strong track record of scholarship and be expected to pursue an active research and publication agenda.

Primary Responsibilities
Merrimack College has a 3/3 course load for tenure-track faculty. Candidates should have the experience or ability to teach courses related to Conflict Management, Persuasion, Non-Profit
Organizing, and/or Leadership and Collaboration. This position will require teaching a range of undergraduate and graduate courses within the department. The ideal candidate will
demonstrate the ability to secure external funding and pursue an active research and publication agenda.

The Department of Communication and Media is grounded in the liberal arts tradition. We encourage our students to bring critical awareness to the study of communication, the production of media projects, and their everyday lives. We take seriously interrogations of power and examinations of intersectional systems of oppression, and we embrace and encourage social justice-oriented pedagogies.


Qualifications

Candidates should have earned a Ph.D. in Communication or a related field. Experience or the ability to teach courses related to Conflict Management, Persuasion, Non-Profit Organizing, and/or Leadership and Collaboration. Candidates’ CV should show evidence of a burgeoning and robust research program. Strong verbal/written communication skills are essential. Additionally, the ability to foster an environment that values diversity, equity and inclusion is expected of all Merrimack community members.

About the School of Liberal Arts
The study of liberal arts is at the heart of Merrimack’s curriculum. The School of Liberal Arts encompasses the humanities and social sciences, each of which include a range of disciplines distinguished by their focus of inquiry and by their perspectives and methodologies. Students may choose from a wide variety of major and minor programs available through the school’s 13 departments. The School also offers master’s programs in communication, public affairs, clinical mental health counseling, spiritual direction, and spirituality.
