Position Overview
The Department of Nutrition and Public Health in the School of Nursing & Health Sciences is seeking a tenure-track faculty member committed to excellence in teaching and has a proven track record of having or being able to develop and maintain a productive line of research with
strong potential for external funding to start in the Fall of 2023.

Position Summary
The School of Nursing & Health Sciences at Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts is seeking an outstanding and highly motivated tenure-track faculty member to join the Department of Nutrition and Public Health in the Fall of 2023.

We are seeking a dynamic, outstanding, faculty member who is committed to excellent teaching and who has or can develop an impactful and potentially externally funded line of research. The
Department currently offers Bachelor of Science degrees in Nutritional Sciences; Public Health; Health Sciences; and, Master of Science degrees in Health and Wellness Management; Community Health Education; and Nutrition and Human Performance, an ACEND candidacy program.

The Department’s space and labs provide ample opportunities for different lines of research. Space includes three integrated lecture/lab classrooms and two lab spaces that house state-of-the-art equipment such as BodPod; Cosmed metabolic carts; cycle ergometers; four
treadmills; dual force plates; 3D image capture system; a simulation manikin; diagnostic ultrasound and other various evaluative and diagnostic equipment. Faculty have the opportunity to partner with a wide-variety of research focused faculty across the campus including exercise science, nursing, psychology, criminal justice and more. In addition, strong connections exist to establish community based research. Opportunities to engage students in research include
graduate fellowships and an undergraduate directed research course. Start-up funds are available, along with competitive internal research support and assistance in seeking external funding.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Establish a productive line of research with strong potential for extramural funding
  • Teach undergraduate and/or graduate courses in their area of expertise
  • Advise and mentor undergraduate and/or graduate students
  • Participate in service to the department, school, college and professional community

Qualifications

Candidates should have a doctoral degree in Nutrition, Public Health or a closely related field. University/College teaching experience is preferred. Experience teaching graduate and/or undergraduate students in the area of nutrition; public health or health sciences. Strong verbal/written communication skills are essential. Additionally, the ability to foster an
environment that values diversity, equity and inclusion is expected of all Merrimack community members.

About the School of Nursing & Health Sciences
The School of Nursing & Health Sciences mission is to provide a quality, innovative education built upon strong science, emerging technologies, and real-world foundational experiences, integrated with the liberal arts and shaped by Augustinian traditions. It is an emerging School
with a diverse portfolio of undergraduate and graduate academic programs, state-of-art facilities, deep community partnerships, and externally funded research programs that provide ample opportunities for integrating new lines of research.
