Position Overview
The Department of Nursing in the School of Nursing & Health Sciences is seeking an outstanding and highly motivated faculty member to join our newly established Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program. This position can be a tenure-track or non-tenure-track appointment; tenure-track faculty must have a proven track record of being able to develop and maintain a productive line of research with strong potential for external funding. Our nursing program is housed in a state-of-the-art center and is committed to developing exceptional professional nurses.

Position Summary
The School of Nursing & Health Sciences at Merrimack College in North Andover, Massachusetts is seeking an outstanding and highly motivated faculty member to join our newly established Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program. Applications for a tenure-track (Assistant/Associate Professor) or non-tenure track (Assistant/Associate Clinical Professor)
faculty position in nursing are now being requested. This is a 9-month contract faculty position in the Department of Nursing. Merrimack College recently opened a state-of-the-art Nursing Center to house our inaugural program. This space includes 6 simulation labs, 2 classrooms, 2
debrief rooms, 15 faculty offices, and 2 large student collaboration spaces.

Primary Responsibilities
  • The ideal candidate should be highly experienced and skilled in undergraduate nursing curriculum and course development, NCLEX preparation and testing, clinical and didactic instruction in nursing
  • Teach undergraduate nursing courses in the areas and courses based upon expertise
  • Advise students
  • Contribute to curriculum and policy development, maintenance of CCNE accreditation and MA BORN regulatory standards, shared governance and evaluation of all nursing program components
  • Experience in simulation development, implementation and evaluation is a plus

Qualifications

Candidates should have a minimum of a Master’s degree in Nursing for a non-tenure track appointment; a PhD in nursing or related field is required for tenure-track appointment. Current/unencumbered Massachusetts RN license, healthcare provider CPR and current
immunizations as recommended by the Massachusetts Department of Health. A minimum of two (2) years of full-time clinical nursing experience, or its equivalent, within the last five years and evidence of clinical competence in the area of clinical instruction required for non-tenure track; additionally nursing education teaching at the college level is preferred for tenure track. A defined program of research that is outstanding for the individual’s career stage (required for tenure-track position). Outstanding record of professional service commensurate with
career stage. Excellent clinical skills in nursing (or related fields) to support clinical education. Understanding of healthcare disparities and disparate needs of historically underserved communities. Strong verbal/written communication skills are essential. Additionally, the ability to foster an environment that values diversity, equity and inclusion is
expected of all Merrimack community members.
