Position Overview
The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice in the Winston School of Education and Social Policy invites applications for a tenure-track position starting in Academic Year 2023-24. The CCJ Department has a focus on addressing crime and inequality, offering a B.A. and an M.S. in Criminology and Criminal Justice as well as an M.S. and a Certified Municipal Police Training Committee (MPTC) Police Academy Program. The CCJ Department is committed to fostering research, applied practice, and mentoring students.

Position Summary
The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice in the Winston School of Education and Social Policy invites applications for a tenure-track position starting in Academic Year 2023-24. The Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Merrimack College is a dynamic, collegial department with a focus on crime and inequality. Areas of teaching and research specialization are open.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Teach undergraduate courses and/or upper-level undergraduate/graduate courses.
  • Maintain a strong research program in areas of expertise; experience in funded research preferred.
  • Actively involve undergraduate and graduate students in your research program.
  • Sustain a record of quality, peer-reviewed scholarship; pursue external grant opportunities to support the development and growth of the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice.
  • Hold office hours at times that provide appropriate access to students.
  • Provide service to the Department of Criminology and Criminal Justice, the Winston School of Education and Social Policy, Merrimack College and the broader community.

Qualifications
Candidates should possess a Ph.D. in Criminology, Criminal Justice, or a related field. A minimum of 1-3 years teaching experience in the higher education field. A strong research agenda in area(s) of Criminology specialization; experience in funded research is expected of all candidates. Strong verbal/written communication skills are essential. Additionally, the ability to foster an environment that values diversity, equity and inclusion is expected of all Merrimack community members.

The Winston School of Education and Social Policy is a dynamic educational environment supporting all aspects of the faculty. The Winston School’s mission is to support communities toward social change. Engagement with students and colleagues around applied practice and scholarship creates a vibrant atmosphere that encourages collaboration and initiatives leading to social change.

Required Vaccinations and Remote Work
