Position Description:  The Department of Neuroscience and Pharmacology at the University of Iowa invites applications for one full-time Visiting Instructor (non-tenure track) position with faculty fringe benefits.  This teaching position is a 12-month appointment and renewable annually up to 3 years.  Applications are sought from candidates with a demonstrated potential for outstanding teaching of basic pharmacology, physiology and/or closely related discipline with an emphasis on relevance to human health and disease.

The selected candidate will ultimately teach basic pharmacology in several Department lecture courses delivered to students of diverse academic backgrounds (undergraduate, graduate, and professional students).  This Instructor will also assist with small group teaching within the medical curriculum.  Duties of this position include course management, teaching, assisting the Associate Chair of Education, and professional development.

Education Requirements:  A PhD degree in Pharmacology, Physiology, or a closely related discipline is required.

Minimal Required Qualifications:  Application materials should highlight your achievements in the following areas:

  • teaching excellence across multiple content areas and formats (lecture, small group, etc.)
