Job Details

The director oversees the operations of counseling services, including supervision of all counselors, delivery, and assessment of services that directly support students’ academic work. This person also serves as an investigator and member of the Title IX team in addressing harassment/discrimination issues related to protected class.

Minimum education and experience:

  • Master’s Degree in Counseling, Psychology, or related discipline. Licensed Counselor.  Three (3) years experience in counseling or student personnel services at the college level. Substantial experience with supervision and budgeting. Work experience focused on campus or community health promotion/education/prevention. 

Minimum abilities and skills:

  • Strong crisis assessment and crisis management skills. Interpersonal skills necessary to deal effectively and courteously with students, parents/family members, faculty/staff and the public. Demonstrated understanding of ethical and legal issues in mental health practice. Ability to work as part of a team in a stressful environment and as part of a multi-disciplinary team. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Evidence of management ability and leadership skills. Functional ability on a personal computer. Effective organizational and time management skills and ability to motivate. Knowledge of crisis screening and ability to follow professional referral protocol. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development. Knowledgeable in the dimensions of wellness and approaches to upstream prevention.
