The Program in Film & Media Studies at Washington University in St. Louis invites applications from scholars (and scholar-artists) of digital media to fill a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor. Areas of research and creative interest might include: social media, video games, artificial intelligence, digital design, algorithmic culture, algorithmic bias, computational media, internet video/streaming, and more.

 

The Program is undertaking a strategic expansion into the study and design of digital media. The successful candidate will design and run a new Introduction to Digital Media course, the cornerstone of a new program offering. Other duties will include teaching assigned courses, conducting research, writing/creating for publication and/or exhibition, advising students, participating in department governance, and university service. Experience or potential for external grantmaking is also desirable.

 

A terminal degree in an appropriate field is required by the start of the appointment, along with demonstrated success in teaching and research/creative practice in digital media.
