Job Description:
The Watson Institute is searching for a motivated and experienced Digital Media Producer to join our growing communications team.
The Digital Media Producer works as part of the communications team in the Watson Institute for International and Public Affairs, reporting to the Web and Multimedia Production Manager and working closely with the Communications and Digital Strategy Manager. This individual is responsible for video production; from concept to post-production and delivery; photography and asset management; and event technical support.
The Digital Media Producer participates in planning and pre-production of Watson’s media content across platforms, and may occasionally edit and contribute to other post-production tasks as needed, either on their own or to support the editors in the team. The position may work on multiple projects at once, often in collaboration with other members of the communications team, to ensure that project goals are met and media content aligns with the institute’s objectives and its commitment to the highest quality production standards.
This individual is expected to stay current on the latest trends in digital media, and must be able to identify and execute creative and innovative approaches to bring stories to life.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in video production, film studies, integrated
marketing, public relations or a related field, or equivalent
combination of skills and experience
- 3+ years videography and photography experience (i.e. film,
interactive media, video journalism, digital communications,
multimedia communications) directly working in videography and
video production required
- Demonstrated experience in conceiving and producing strong
visual stories through video
- Ability to produce and edit video to clearly and concisely
convey messages that align with client needs
- Extensive experience with video equipment and tools supporting
video production, including cameras, lighting kits, and lavalier
and shotgun microphones
- Demonstrated creative eye for innovative composition and design
of videos
- Expert knowledge of video production and photography editing
software, including the Adobe Creative Suite’s Premiere Pro, After
Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator, Audition, Apple’s Final Cut Pro
and other A/V editing software
- Ability to organize and keep track of large amounts of
media
- Knowledge of copyright, image permissions and fair use
protocols for music and video resources supporting
production.
- Demonstrated ability to work well in a team setting—excellent
communication and collaborative skills
- Capacity to balance multiple projects under deadline
constraints and to manage projects gracefully under pressure
- Knowledge of graphics and animation
- Demonstrated ability to support a community of diverse
perspectives and cultures in an inclusive environment
