Job Description:
The Department of Family Therapy and Social Work in the School of Education and Human Development invites applications for a full-time, tenure track, Associate Professor position in the CSWE accredited Masters of Social Work, Clinical Specialist program beginning Spring 2023.
The successful candidate will oversee and administer all aspects of the hybrid program (both online and on-campus) as outlined in the CSWE accreditation standards, including classroom/virtual instruction; curriculum development; recruitment and retention of MSW students; and liaison within the School of Social Work and programs within the School of Education and Human Development. The teaching load is 3 courses in both the Fall and Spring semesters with a 50% teaching release as per CSWE accreditation standards for program direction. Candidates should demonstrate commitment to innovation and excellence in teaching and the use of technology in the classroom. The MSW Program Director will work closely with the MSW Field Director on all issues related to MSW field placements. Additionally, this candidate will be responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the program meet accreditation standards and complete assessment reports as required.
Candidates must demonstrate experience and a commitment to the profession and practice of clinical social work. Applicants are expected to show evidence of a research/scholarly agenda on anti-racism within the US context, including interpersonal and structural racism, bias, and/or health/mental health inequities. The candidate should demonstrate experience in engagement with under-served populations and a commitment to the mission of advancing human rights and social justice in teaching, service, scholarship and clinical social work practice.
The MSW program has a strong commitment to preparing clinical social workers who are devoted to equity, diversity, inclusion, and racial justice. We successfully prepare social workers with a strong focus on social justice, grounded in our Jesuit mission and values. Our graduates are prepared to address inequities in mental health care and make a substantive difference as systemic change agents for clients in agencies and children and youth. - Provide leadership in the MSW program and coordinate all aspects of the MSW Program and course instruction
- Collaborate and provide leadership in team-building
- Address student and faculty concerns and ideas for program improvement
- Teaching graduate level courses in MSW program
- Developing/maintaining an ongoing research agenda which includes scholarly publication
- Advise graduate students
- Serve on School and University committees
- Collaborate with other departments in the School of Education and Human Development and across the university.
- Oversee CSWE accreditation and assessment and outcome reporting
- Hold a doctoral degree in Social Work from a CSWE accredited program.
- Demonstrate research, scholarship and practice experience with people of color and other underserved groups
- Be eligible for licensure as an LCSW in the state of Connecticut.
- Demonstrated capacity to teach across the Social Work curriculum and populations including children, adolescents and families, social policy, and clinical practice and supervision.
- Demonstrated use of theories that inform the applicant’s research and teaching, such as but not limited to, theories of anti-racism, intersectional theories, theories of oppression, or critical race theory.
- Demonstrate a commitment to diversity and social justice in practice, teaching, and/or research.
- Have experience implementing initiatives to increase equity, diversity, and inclusion at the program/departmental/community levels.
- Be active in professional organizations and university service.
- Bilingual fluency valued.
