Position Description

The Division of Psychological & Educational Services (PES), housed within Fordham University Graduate School of Education (GSE), invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position within its APA-accredited Counseling Psychology Program and MPCAC-accredited programs in School Counseling and Mental Health Counseling. The ideal candidate will contribute to teaching, scholarship/research, mentoring, funding, and community service partnerships that facilitate socio-emotional learning across the lifespan, particularly for those underserved in schools, colleges, hospitals, and community mental health contexts. A successful candidate is expected to develop a systematic research program that involves students and builds upon existing interdisciplinary collaborations. Applicants should have demonstrated success or potential in obtaining extramural funding. Evidence of dedication to high-quality graduate teaching, advising, supervision, and research mentoring is expected. The program, division, school, and university are especially interested in qualified candidates who are committed to and will actively contribute to our efforts to celebrate our cultural and intellectual richness and be resolute in advancing equity and inclusion of the academic community through their research, teaching, and service.

 

 

Position Responsibilities

  1. Provide outstanding teaching, advising, and mentoring to graduate students in all three counseling programs.  Possess particular interests, experience, and/or expertise in psychological assessment, testing and measurement, and research methods. Maintain a coherent and productive program of research that supports the counseling psychology program, includes graduate students as co-authors, and strengthens the GSE’s commitment and national leadership in research, training, and service with diverse populations. Maintain publication activity in high-quality peer-reviewed journals. Supervise graduate students from underrepresented groups in higher education to engage in student research and encourage participation in conference presentations and publishing. Seek and secure external funding to support research, personnel preparation, and/or outreach. Provide program, division, school, and university-wide service, as well as professional service at state and national levels particularly geared to promoting equity and access to the counseling field and mental health services across the lifespan. Actively support a just, safe, and inclusive campus, committing to improving systems to support minoritized and historically marginalized people to reduce bias and create and sustain equity.

 

Required Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in an APA-accredited Counseling Psychology Program Licensure as a Psychologist or eligible for licensure as a Psychologist in New York State Evidence or potential for developing active research agenda and quality publications Evidence of success or potential for securing external research funding Evidence of, or potential for, establishing professional and scholarly collaboration within diverse and interdisciplinary contexts. Evidence of commitment to work with diverse, underserved communities and students. Commitment to collegiality and collaboration

 

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Commitment to the Jesuit mission of the University. Bilingual/Multilingual candidates preferred (though not required). We are interested in candidates whose teaching and research focus on racial/ethnic identity development, race-based trauma/stress, children of incarcerated parents, gender identity among Black and Latinx youth, and other multiculturally focused topics.
