Position Function:
The Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Entomology, and Plant Pathology (BCHEPP) at Mississippi State University seeks to fill a 12-month, tenure-track (100% Extension), Assistant/Associate Professor position in entomology focused on management of urban and structural pests.

Department Profile:
The Department of Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Entomology and Plant Pathology pursues an academic research and service mission within the traditions of Land-Grant Universities. The Department offers B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees and currently advises approximately 500 undergraduate and 50 graduate students.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
The successful candidate will establish a multidisciplinary program dedicated to providing science-based information on integrated and sustainable pest management to a diverse state-wide clientele, including the pest management industry, state and federal regulators, and pesticide manufacturers and formulators, as well as the general public. The successful candidate will also develop an externally-funded research program that will inform their Extension activities and synergize with existing departmental programs (https://www.biochemistry.msstate.edu/mission.php), such as Termite University. Collaboration with other researchers and Extension Service colleagues both on and off campus is expected. The incumbent will be encouraged to contribute to the department teaching mission via undergraduate and/or graduate mentoring or formal classroom teaching. The successful candidate is expected to be an interactive member of the faculty, as well as a contributor to relevant scientific/professional societies
Minimum Qualifications:
A Ph.D. in entomology or a related field is required with demonstrated excellence in written and oral communication as well as strong interpersonal skills. Exceptional ABD candidates will be considered for this position, but preference will be given to applicants with Extension or science communication experience beyond the PhD. Candidates with evidence of multidisciplinary collaborations, experience translating research results for the public, a record of leadership and service, and the ability to secure extramural funding will be given priority.
