Summary Position
This position oversees Elon's education abroad programming, including semester, exchange, and short-term faculty-led programs, with a focus on student-facing and parent/family-facing activity. As a member of the Isabella Cannon Global Education Center (GEC)'s leadership team, the Executive Director supports the Dean of Global Education in managing the operations of the Global Education Center and in communicating efforts on and off campus.This position supports the University's strategic plan, Boldly Elon for 2030, as well as Elon's Global Strategic Plan. Both include promoting inclusive excellence, deepening the University's #1-ranked study abroad program, making programming accessible to all students, and increasing students' acquisition of second languages.The Director of Short-term Programs and the Director of Semester and Exchange Programs report directly to the Executive Director with a total of six full-time employees in the reporting lines. This position works in close collaboration with the Director of Operations and Application and Outreach Coordinator on budgeting, policies, and logistics, among other areas. The Executive Director also provides joint supervision of master's candidates in the Masters of Higher Education program who serve as apprentices, as well as other graduate assistant positions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Leadership· Manage priorities of and supervise performance of team members.· Promote and serve as a mentor for team members’ on-going professional development and training.· Along with other members of the GEC leadership team, develop mechanisms to sustain a high level of morale, creativity, and effectiveness.· Support University initiatives around equity, diversity, and inclusion.· Pursue professional development opportunities in support of role and duties, in alignment with University goals, and to contribute to the field of international education.· Together with the GEC leadership team, represent Elon’s study away activities to Elon’s senior staff.

Strategic· Collaborate with the Dean, Assistant Dean, Director of Semester & Exchange Programs, Director of Short-term Programs, and GEC program managers to further develop and implement Elon’s Global Strategic Plan, including, but not limited to, study away opportunities for students, faculty, and staff.· With the Dean, monitor industry trends to aid in the development of initiatives, objectives, and best practices for the GEC.· Work with colleagues to maintain high standard of providing 100% access to study away.· Manage current affiliate and exchange relationships and oversee the strategic onboarding of new program offerings.· Serve on the GEC Advisory Committee, relevant search committees, and other committees, as appropriate.Administrative· Lead content development for general orientation and reentry sessions, to ensure consistency across programs.· Manage a portfolio of at least one short term faculty led program and one affiliate/exchange programs.· Together with the Dean and Communication & Outreach Coordinator, oversee all externally presented education abroad web content and print materials.· Assist the Director of Operations in the collection, management, verification, and distribution of study away data.· Work with the Dean on general issues—including, but not limited to—scholarships, emergency plans, risk management, insurance, evaluation, reentry, graduate programs, developmental outcomes assessment, special programs, and initiatives.· Work with the Director of Short-term Programs, Assistant Dean, and other colleagues to ensure the preparedness of short-term faculty leaders and the Center faculty-in-residence.· Work with the Director of Operations on study away budgeting and contract management.· Foster positive parent & family relations and involvement.· Handle sensitive student issues, including but not limited to, academic, honor code, and Title IX cases.· Serve as secondary reviewer of petitions for non-Elon program and handle escalated student appeals of GEC study away decisions.· Work closely with the Director of Global Experiential Learning and others to develop and maintain health & safety plans and protocols for study away programs. Assist with emergencies, including during non-office working hours.

Education and Experience
Master’s degree required.
