Overview
The Department of Astrophysical Sciences seeks a full time Administrative Assistant to directly support the Academic Program Administrator and provide general administrative support to the department as a whole. Astrophysics is a diverse and vibrant community of faculty, research staff, and students. Ranked as one of the top academic programs in Astronomy, the Department serves 25 undergraduate majors and 25 graduate student researchers. In addition, Astrophysics hosts a summer undergraduate research program that brings together Princeton students with STEM students from minority serving institutions. As a community, we take pride in creating an inclusive and equitable department climate.
Responsibilities
As the Assistant to the Academic Program Administrator:
- Provides support for student related events, assists students with travel arrangements, initiates and monitors student employment opportunities, sets up classroom schedules, and performs other tasks as assigned by the Program Administrator.
- Delivers general support to the Directors of Undergraduate and Graduate studies and other instruction related tasks.
- Assists faculty as needed with reference letters.
- Occupy the front office and serve as first informational point of contact for the department.
- Coordinate guest visits including apartment scheduling and room and key assignments.
- Serve as the telephone and facilities coordinator and will ensure that general office equipment is maintained and serviced.
- Provide guidance and assistance to the coffee hour barrista.
- Monitor and organize general office supplies.
Qualifications
Essential Qualifications: A high school diploma or GED with two to three years related expereince; bachelor's degree can be substituted for required experience. Ability to proof read and edit diverse written materials. Strong math aptitude, attention to detail and customer service skills.
