Research Administration is seeking a Research Specialist who will be able to design, refine, and oversee laboratory protocols and various research activities of Dr. Gill’s program of research, including laboratory and clinical activities. Further, writing manuscripts, grant development and program implementation are critical.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Will oversee and direct research protocols and assays within the laboratory including miRNA extraction, sweat extraction, blood processing protocols, and assay analysis on multiple instruments within the laboratory.
  • Will oversee processes and individual oversight for data tracing, reproducibility, and proper research documentation techniques.
  • Develop and implement SOPs for laboratory safety and operational purposes.
  • Responsible for analysis and interpretation of data using various relevant computer software applications and aid in preparation of summaries of laboratory findings in final form for publication in reports and papers to be presented at scientific meetings or publication in scientific journals.
  • This employee will direct various research projects and collaborations, performing proper analysis on samples with assays designed by their developed research protocols.
  • Train fellows within the lab including development of training plans and the direction of the training within these plans.


Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Biology, Chemistry or related field.
  • One year of laboratory experience performing relevant techniques.
  • Master's Degree, with related graduate research, may substitute for experience to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.


Preferred Qualifications
  • 2-5 years of experience as a post-doctoral fellow within a laboratory.
  • Proficiency in writing, presenting and developing data.
  • Ability to develop grant proposals.
  • Documented ability to oversee fellows.
Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
  • Able to direct wet lab study protocols.
  • Able to multi-task and work multiple projects at once.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift items in the lab when necessary not to exceed 25lbs.
