Assistant Professor of Biology
Kentucky Wesleyan College, a private, liberal arts college with a long-standing reputation for quality and academic excellence, is seeking applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Biology for the 2023-2024 academic year. This is a nine-month, tenure track position. The start date is August 15, 2023. Responsibilities include teaching a variety of upper- and lower-level Biology courses, supervising faculty-student research, and working with other faculty to develop the Biology program to its full potential. Applicants must have a commitment to undergraduate teaching and a specialty in the field of microbiology.
Major Responsibilities
- Teach a variety of courses to Biology and Pre-Nursing students including but not limited to Microbiology I and II, Medical Microbiology, and Immunology. A willingness to teach and support introductory level courses for majors and non-majors. Serve as the KWC Biosafety Officer. Encourage and oversee relevant faculty-student research. Advise students. Contribute your professional expertise to the college and larger external community.
Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Microbiology or a related discipline. A strong commitment to teaching, mentoring, and working with undergraduate students and a passion for providing an exceptional classroom experience for students. A commitment to involving undergraduates in research. Enthusiastic and dynamic personality. Effective communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively. A desire to contribute professional expertise to the college and larger external community. Evidence of successful collegiate teaching experience.
