The Department of Nursing at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) invites applications for a 10-month, non-tenure-track Clinical Specialist to join our community starting in August 2023. The position is offered for an initial two-year appointment, with potential for renewal for a second two-year appointment and subsequent three-year appointments based on performance and the needs of the department and school.

Position Summary:

The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate nursing courses and supervise students’ clinical experiences. We are interested in candidates whose clinical experience and teaching will connect and integrate with the department of nursing's mission, goals and vision. We welcome candidates in many areas of nursing, especially those that diversify the department’s existing strengths . Some areas of particular interest include : Community/Public Health Nursing, Psychiatric Nursing, and/or Pediatric Nursing.

Candidates should be committed to inclusive excellence in higher education , demonstrated through, for example, culturally responsive course design and pedagogy, equity-minded student engagement and mentorship, and cultivating intercultural competencies needed for meaningful citizenship.

Clinical specialists may also serve as academic advisors and have service responsibilities within their department and school, and the college. These intentional efforts support the recruitment, retention, and success of our faculty, particularly those from groups traditionally underrepresented in academe.

Qualifications:

Applicants should:
  • Have a minimum of a master’s degree in nursing.
  • At least 5 years of clinical experience as well as experience teaching undergraduates or precepting new nursing graduates.
  • Demonstrate cultural competency and ability to foster inclusive learning environments and mutual respect for students and colleagues.
Preferred qualifications
  • Have experience in one or more of the following areas:
    • Community/Public Health Nursing
    • Psychiatric Nursing
    • Pediatric Nursing
