Position Description

The Radiation Therapy Program at Texas State University is seeking a dynamic, innovative educator who is passionate about teaching and mentoring radiation therapy students and helping them achieve their academic goals. Qualified candidates not only have a strong desire for teaching, but are also committed to research, scholarship, and service.

This is a full time nine-month tenure-track appointment, with possible summer employment. Rank and salary will be commensurate with candidate’s experience and qualifications; candidates will be considered for the rank of assistant professor, associate professor, or professor.

Responsibilities will include participation in curriculum development and teaching courses across the program which can include didactic and laboratory courses. Courses are taught in person on the Texas State University Round Rock campus. A research agenda is required, as well as academic service to the program, college, and university. All positions are subject to availability of funds.

Required Qualifications

1. Earned Master’s degree, or if in progress, must be awarded prior to start of academic term (start date). As a B.S. in Radiation Therapy is a terminal degree, a Master’s in any health science, business/ administration, or educational field from an accredited university is acceptable.
2. Holds current American Registry of Radiologic Technologist ( ARRT ) certification in Radiation Therapy.
3. Holds (or is eligible to obtain) Texas Medical Board licensure.
4. Demonstrates current clinical competence as a Radiation Therapist with at least three years clinical work experience.
  • Appointment to the assistant professor rank requires a minimum of three years working in a radiation therapy clinic, evidence of scholarly activity (or attempted scholarly activity), and membership in professional organizations (e.g., ASRT, AEIRS, etc.).
  • In addition to the requirements for the assistant professor rank, appointment to the associate professor rank requires an established research publication record with demonstrated funding attempts, evidence of teaching excellence in RTT curriculum (minimum five years), and service leadership accomplishments.
  • An appointment to the professor rank requires an extensive research publication record with funding, evidence of teaching excellence in RTT curriculum (minimum 10 years), and major service leadership accomplishments.
  • The eligible candidate will receive the appropriate rank based on university and program standards.
Preferred Qualifications

1. Earned Ph.D. or doctorate from an accredited program in education, public health, or related area.
2. Experience in higher education including accreditation, program review, assessment, and curriculum design.
3. Scholarly activity (ex. publications, scholarly presentations, grant activity).
4. Commitment and interest in future scholarly/ creative activity.
5. Professional engagement/activity.
